Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team at Emerald Academy. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal growth of our students with special needs.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Special Education Teacher in maintaining student records and administering diagnostic tools.
  • Prepare the classroom and organize instructional materials and equipment to ensure a conducive learning environment.
  • Monitor the classroom during teacher absences and provide consultation as needed.
  • Attend in-service and faculty meetings to stay updated on school policies and procedures.
  • Refrain from discussing confidential school business and student records outside of school hours.
  • Provide reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities, such as toileting, feeding, or other self-help activities.
  • Lift and bend to complete tasks, and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training certification.
  • Assist in supervising students during bus trips and chaperone during lunch, recess, and other activities.
  • Establish and maintain respectful working relationships within the school environment.
  • Contribute to the staff's efforts to ensure all students succeed academically.
Requirements
  • Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Have sufficient experience in a related field.
  • Possess a passion for working with students with special needs.
  • Thrive in an innovative environment and work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Believe in the potential of all students to learn and achieve at high academic levels.
