Our Chicago facility specializes in toxicology assessments and pathology services tailored for pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Animal Necropsy Team Leader who possesses a strong background in guiding technicians, providing training, and conducting animal necropsy within a Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) research environment. This role demands a commitment to scientific excellence, quality assurance, and a proactive approach to continuous education. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with senior members of the pathology team to establish and implement a premier necropsy program as part of the Frontage Pathology Center of Excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a thorough understanding of anatomy across various laboratory animal species.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative abilities to work effectively across departments and locations to achieve shared goals.
  • Demonstrate initiative, integrity, reliability, and a high level of professionalism.
  • Adapt to changing priorities with flexibility and resilience.
  • Train technicians in proper necropsy and tissue trimming methodologies in accordance with industry best practices and established training protocols.
  • Assist in the development and execution of comprehensive necropsy and tissue trimming training programs in close collaboration with departmental leadership.
  • Guide technicians in completing all necessary tasks related to animal necropsy and tissue trimming, including animal handling, euthanasia, dissection, sample collection, tissue verification, and laboratory preparation.
  • Design and maintain operational processes that optimize tissue fixation while minimizing loss and damage.
  • Monitor quality metrics and expenses to support departmental objectives.
  • Ensure humane treatment of all animals through compassionate and respectful interactions.
  • Possess strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) relevant to essential functions, along with familiarity with the Provantis system.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and utilizing protective equipment as necessary.
  • Develop innovative necropsy techniques to meet the evolving needs of clients.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to uphold the integrity of studies and meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in necropsy within a research context.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and build consensus through effective communication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to organize and present complex data clearly.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and consistently meet deadlines.
