Responsibilities


The Senior Traffic Operations Specialist will be a recognized leader with proven supervisory or management experience in guiding and developing a team.

This role involves overseeing and monitoring ongoing projects within the department to ensure timely execution in alignment with client specifications and adherence to company policies, procedures, and standards.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the design, analysis, and enhancement of traffic operations initiatives.
  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of traffic engineering principles to enhance traffic flow, safety, and overall transportation efficiency.
  • Oversee traffic operations projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with project timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to seamlessly integrate traffic solutions into broader civil engineering projects.
  • Design and evaluate traffic signal systems, including timing, phasing, and coordination to optimize traffic flow and reduce congestion.
  • Conduct traffic impact assessments to evaluate the potential effects of development projects on traffic patterns and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Perform traffic safety evaluations, identify potential hazards, and devise effective safety solutions for roadways and intersections.
  • Employ traffic simulation modeling tools to assess and enhance the performance of transportation systems under varying conditions.
  • Stay informed about local, state, and federal traffic engineering regulations and standards.
  • Ensure compliance of all traffic operations projects with relevant guidelines and requirements.
  • Engage with clients to comprehend their specific traffic engineering needs and deliver solutions that align with their objectives.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret traffic data to inform decision-making and enhance traffic operations efficiency.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and drawings related to traffic operations engineering projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in transportation or traffic engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
  • 6+ years of experience in traffic engineering or a related discipline.
  • Expertise in traffic signal design, traffic impact assessments, safety evaluations, and traffic simulation modeling.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with traffic engineering software and simulation tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable traffic engineering standards, guidelines, and regulations.
