Become an Air Traffic Control Operator (15Q) in the U.S. Army

As a certified Air Traffic Control Operator, you'll play a vital role in ensuring mission success by tracking aircraft like jets and helicopters. You'll coordinate their movement for takeoff and landing, as well as monitor their flight paths in both tactical and non-tactical environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Following strict procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain air safety.
  • Controlling airborne and ground traffic for the safety of all pilots and passengers.
  • Processing flight plan data and setting up tactical air traffic control facilities on the front lines.

No prior experience is required. This is an entry-level position with comprehensive training provided.

Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency with a valid Green Card.
  • Age between 17 and 34 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Compliance with tattoo guidelines.
  • No major law violations.
  • Good overall health.
Training and Certifications
  • Seven nationally recognized certifications available upon completion of training.
  • Ten weeks of Basic Training.
  • Seventeen weeks of Advanced Individual Training.
  • Minimum ASVAB score of 101 in the Skilled Technical (ST) category.
