Traffic Engineering Specialist

Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 / year

Overview

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate project work plans and define scopes of work.
  • Oversee project timelines and ensure adherence to schedules.
  • Prepare financial proposals and monitor project budgets and billing.
  • Generate project outputs including technical documents, design specifications, and analytical reports.
  • Design improvements for traffic signage and road markings on various types of roadways.
  • Develop traffic signal and illumination systems.
  • Create traffic management and control strategies.
  • Ensure quality assurance for all project outputs.
  • Conduct necessary calculations, prepare construction specifications, and manage permitting processes across different jurisdictions.
  • Develop cost estimates and engineer opinions on probable costs throughout various project phases.
  • Oversee and design projects for private sector clients.
  • Collaborate with other Trilon Group leaders on interdisciplinary project initiatives.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and project teams.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Conduct site observations and coordinate with construction teams.
  • Ensure optimal deployment of staff resources for productivity and profitability.
  • Facilitate regular meetings to align project requirements with staff availability.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Self-motivated professional with strong project management capabilities.
  • Ability to lead teams, bid on projects, and develop execution plans and technical deliverables.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Technical expert with strong skills in team building, writing, proposal development, cost estimation, and program execution.
  • Proficient in working as a team leader and fostering positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
  • Degree in civil engineering (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is required.
  • Five to seven years of progressive experience in civil design, particularly in traffic engineering.
  • Experience with both private and public sector clients.
  • Strong industry connections and knowledge of municipal, state, and federal regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of local, regional, state, and federal policies and procedures.
