Position Overview:

SENIOR BUSINESS BANKING RELATIONSHIP OFFICER
WHAT IS THE ROLE? Cultivates and oversees connections with business banking clients within designated market segments and geographic territories.

Engages proactively in the sales strategy of the assigned region to achieve both regional and personal performance targets, while upholding City National Bank's credit quality and risk management standards.

Offers a diverse range of product solutions tailored to client requirements. Ensures high-quality service delivery. Authorizes transactions within granted limits. Oversees the overall profitability of client relationships and portfolio risk, ensuring sustainable growth of the assigned portfolio.

This is achieved through proactive outreach and referrals from current clients and colleagues in Personal & Business Banking and other divisions, by delivering exemplary service, identifying and promoting solutions to meet client needs, and maintaining a consistent outreach strategy.

Preferred to maintain good standing under "The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008" (Safe Act) and be registered/licensed with the "Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry" (NMLS); or must be eligible for registration under the Safe Act.


Key Responsibilities:Identifies and nurtures profitable relationships with prospects and clients in alignment with the bank's objectives through comprehensive business development initiatives.

Collaborates closely with both existing and prospective clients to ascertain their specific financial needs and deliver effective solutions, while adhering to the bank's credit quality standards.

Builds relationships and supports other City National Bank departments and colleagues to provide clients and prospects with the recommended solutions.

May occasionally assist branch managers and relationship managers in their area on client calls to enhance their skills.

Participates in community engagements as a representative of City National Bank, promoting and attracting new clients and colleagues.


Develops a Relationship Plan and calling schedule for each client or prospect in line with the strategic business development program.

Identifies business opportunities and solicits referrals for other bank products or services from existing clients, a network of internal and external referral sources, and other industry professionals.

Gains a comprehensive understanding of the company, industry, and client needs to support client outreach efforts. Establishes objectives for each relationship regarding cross-sell opportunities and revenue contributions, etc.


Engages with existing or prospective clients to discuss and promote all bank products and services, aiming to establish a comprehensive client banking relationship.

Discusses financing opportunities and general business conditions; may assist in forecasting clients' credit requirements and devising solutions to meet their financial needs.

Involves product specialists as necessary to assist in problem-solving or structuring transactions.

Negotiates transactions; documents and finalizes loan agreements, ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory standards. Applies sound credit and risk judgment in transaction approvals. Recommends approval of credits that meet the bank's credit criteria. Ensures the quality of all business introduced to the bank.


Represents the bank by actively engaging in external civic and community activities, business and industry-related organizations, and other professional endeavors as appropriate.

Collaborates with other bank departments, including branches within the assigned area, as needed. Defines responsibilities and coordinates objectives for all product areas in a relationship or transaction. Addresses all client needs and resolves any internal issues.

Monitors and evaluates relationship outcomes and account activities. Assesses client profitability. Makes recommendations regarding accounts for further development or discontinuation. Prepares reports for management.

Monitors portfolio quality, risk, and adherence to policy. Works with relevant staff departments to address issues.

Maintains awareness of competitive products, practices, rates, and shifts in market conditions.

Analyzes problematic credits and meets with clients to formulate solutions to mitigate loss exposure.


May serve as a product specialist, acting as a technical consultant to clients and Relationship Managers across various business segments and geographic areas.


Relationships within the portfolio may necessitate extensive operational expertise to manage workflows that align with client needs, and is responsible for monitoring and mitigating any operational risk factors.

Qualifications:

*Minimum 10 years of banking experience required.

Minimum 8 years of commercial lending experience within the segment required.

Minimum 5 years of credit experience required.

Skills and Knowledge

Preferred to maintain good standing under "The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008" (Safe Act) and be registered/licensed with the "Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry" (NMLS); or must be eligible for registration under the Safe Act.

Solid understanding of bank operations, policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.

General knowledge of bank products and services.

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Effective problem-solving abilities.

Compensation:
Starting base salary: $92,114 - $156,880 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This position is eligible for bonuses and/or commissions.
