Position Overview:


Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Department leadership, the licensed speech-language therapist is tasked with delivering, coordinating, instructing, and overseeing speech-language pathology services through a comprehensive approach of assessment, planning, and execution.

This role includes providing consultative support to fellow professionals involved in patient care and contributing to the formulation of the rehabilitation strategy.


Qualifications:


A licensed speech-language therapist is required to possess at least a master's degree and hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Additionally, licensure to practice as a speech-language therapist in the State of New York is mandatory.



Key Responsibilities:


ASSESSMENT AND INTERVENTION – The speech-language therapist conducts assessments and implements treatment for speech and swallowing disorders in accordance with established practices, policies, and regulations of the Rehabilitation Department.

Exhibits proficiency in evaluating and treating patients across various age groups, including toddlers, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, within both inpatient and outpatient settings. Inpatient responsibilities encompass the assessment and management of swallowing disorders through bedside evaluations and video fluoroscopic swallow studies. Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients, as well as critical and palliative care, is highly valued.


Ensures accurate documentation is provided to relevant authorities.

Exhibits strong communication skills with all stakeholders involved in patient care and hospital operations.

Maintains financial sustainability in alignment with professional standards.

Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development and competency.

Fosters positive interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships, adhering to professional conduct standards.

Complies with hospital policies and procedures regarding mandatory training, annual health evaluations, and licensure verification.

Compensation:
Salary is determined based on experience, skills, and educational background. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will receive compensation within the established salary range. The pay scale may also vary based on geographic location.
