Job Summary:

The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of public facilities and infrastructure. This includes cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and related fixtures, performing housekeeping duties, and assisting with electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain logs and records of work performed
  • Check and lock buildings during non-business hours
  • Inventory and report building repair and maintenance needs
  • Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and related fixtures
  • Assist with electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs and maintenance
  • Inspect parks and facilities for safety, appearance, and vandalism
  • Perform landscape maintenance duties, including repairs to irrigation, turf, landscaped areas, and hardscapes
  • Operate power equipment and tools, such as weed whips, hedgers, chainsaws, gas blowers, and ride-on equipment
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience in field construction, maintenance, and/or custodial work
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license
Working Conditions:

The work environment is primarily outdoor, with occasional exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, and hazardous conditions. The incumbent must be able to walk, stand, or sit for prolonged periods, and perform physical tasks that require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling light to moderate amounts of weight.
