About Our Division

The Revenue Estimating Division is integral to fulfilling the constitutional responsibilities of our office regarding budget and revenue forecasts. This division serves as the primary source for economic data and projections, producing essential reports that inform state budgeting processes.

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, totaling 40 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend commitments as needed.

Position Summary

Join our team as a Revenue Analyst, where you will engage in complex research and analysis to assess and predict state revenue streams. Your responsibilities will include maintaining databases related to your analytical duties and ensuring that your findings align with state laws and regulations. You will communicate your results effectively, both in writing and verbally, and may oversee the work of junior staff. This role operates under limited supervision, allowing for initiative and independent judgment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in research and planning is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • A graduate degree in one of these disciplines.
  • Five years of experience in research and planning.
  • Experience in evaluating and forecasting state revenue.
  • Experience in analyzing court costs, fees, fines, and related revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as an analyst for court costs and criminal justice matters.
  • Prepare data, narratives, and articles for various publications; respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct statistical, economic, and fiscal analyses, providing support to division staff.
  • Assist the Chief Revenue Estimator with special projects related to revenue forecasting.
  • Engage in professional development through training and conferences.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Knowledge Requirements:
  • Understanding of state budgeting laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with statutes and administrative rules concerning state revenue sources.
  • Knowledge of the legislative process in Texas.
  • Expertise in public finance and tax analysis.
  • Proficiency in research methodologies and principles.
  • Skills in quantitative economics, econometrics, and statistics.
  • Experience in database management and manipulation.
  • Computer programming skills.
