Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Sonographer at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in providing diagnostic patient care services using diagnostic medical sonography. Under the direction of the Ultrasound Manager and the Medical Director, you will work independently to acquire requisitions, check for clinical information, and verify correct account numbers. Your expertise will be essential in performing all Ultrasound procedures, analyzing sonograms, and communicating findings to physicians. You will also be responsible for maintaining a sanitary and organized environment, stocking work areas with linens and supplies, and disposing of used supplies and bio-hazardous materials according to hospital policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify patients using two demographic identifiers and review written orders for procedures to be performed.
  • Acquire requisitions, check for clinical information, and verify correct account numbers.
  • Perform all Ultrasound procedures using independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings.
  • Analyze sonograms, synthesizing sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to physicians.
  • Maintain a sanitary and organized environment, stocking work areas with linens and supplies, and disposing of used supplies and bio-hazardous materials according to hospital policy.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in or completion of an accredited Sonography program in a relevant discipline.
  • Applicable certification of ARDMS, RVT, or RCS within one year.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in EMR systems.

Work Environment

Day shift in the Heart Hospital Ancillary department at 1510 Richland Hospital.
