Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Kaiser Permanente's Capitol Hill Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing ultrasound examinations on patients as requested by referring physicians.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Greet patients, explain the ultrasound procedure, and answer questions to ensure a comfortable and informed experience.
  • Select the appropriate ultrasound equipment and probes to obtain diagnostic information requested by referring physicians.
  • Apply gel to patients' skin, apply probes, and monitor equipment to obtain high-quality ultrasound images.
  • Process and review images to confirm they meet radiologists' requirements.
  • Prepare initial diagnoses by identifying abnormal conditions for review by radiologists.
  • Use ultrasound equipment to assist healthcare providers in conducting invasive procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and examination rooms, store patient information, and manage inventory of related supplies.
  • Prepare patient information files with patient identification, date of exam, referring physician, and exam performed.
  • Submit reports showing the number and type of examinations conducted.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum one (1) year of full-time experience as a sonographer required.
  • Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Completion of an ARDMS-accredited or equivalent program in ultrasound technology required.

License, Certification, Registration:
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen
  • BLS Certification

Additional Requirements:
  • Non-registered sonographers may be considered; however, sonographers must have met experience, education, and training requirements; and upon hire, sonographers must sit for and pass abdomen and/or OB/GYN Registry within one year of employment.

Work Environment:
