Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Insurance Underwriter to take on a pivotal role in our organization.

Your responsibilities will include evaluating risks, establishing premiums, and defining coverage terms for our clientele.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing insurance applications to evaluate the risk associated with insuring potential clients, including detailed data analysis and comprehensive risk evaluations.
  • Setting suitable premiums and coverage amounts based on risk evaluations.
  • Collaborating with brokers and agents to collect all essential information for policy creation.
  • Reviewing and refining underwriting policies and procedures to ensure alignment with corporate goals and industry standards.
  • Overseeing the loss control process by identifying potential loss areas and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Providing expert guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and team members.
  • Keeping abreast of market trends and regulatory changes to ensure our underwriting practices remain competitive and compliant.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience as an Insurance Underwriter, with a solid foundation in risk evaluation, loss control, underwriting policies, and analysis.
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related discipline. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)) would be advantageous.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, with a strong attention to detail and the capacity to make informed decisions based on data.
  • Strong negotiation capabilities, with effective communication skills to negotiate terms with brokers and clients.
  • Thorough understanding of insurance laws, regulations, and market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and related IT systems.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and with clients.
