Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Equipment Repair Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a wide range of motorized and mechanical equipment used in construction, highway maintenance, and other areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair equipment failures using electronic testing equipment, service manuals, and online resources.
  • Perform repairs and overhauls on various types of equipment, including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct safety inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with Virginia State Police Inspection program guidelines.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend its lifespan.
  • Design, fabricate, and weld components to repair or replace parts.
  • Prepare equipment for emergency operations and make repairs to minimize downtime.
Requirements
  • Ability to operate various types of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, equipment, and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to obtain Virginia State Inspection License within 12 months of employment and maintain it thereafter.
  • Knowledge of cutting, welding, and fabrication operations.
  • Ability to independently perform major repairs and maintenance on a variety of diesel and gasoline trucks and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and equipment repair manuals, gauges, and testing devices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE certifications.
  • Experience using cutting and welding equipment.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining a variety of automotive and construction equipment.
