Heavy Machinery Repair Technician

Job Responsibilities
Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for a dedicated Equipment Repair Technician to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining a wide range of motorized and mechanical equipment utilized in construction, highway maintenance, and automotive services.
Key Duties Include:
- Diagnosis and Repair: Utilize electronic diagnostic tools and service manuals to identify equipment failures. Perform comprehensive repairs on various vehicles and machinery, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and hydraulic components.
- State Inspections: Conduct safety inspections in accordance with state regulations for vehicles and equipment.
- Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance tasks and address any identified deficiencies promptly.
- Welding and Fabrication: Design and fabricate components as necessary to repair or replace parts.
- Emergency Preparedness: Ensure equipment is ready for emergency operations and perform on-the-road repairs to minimize downtime.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including generating work orders and processing parts requests.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficient in operating various types of trucks and equipment safely.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to obtain necessary state inspection licenses and certifications.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques.
- Experience in maintaining and repairing diesel and gasoline vehicles.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to keep detailed records and reports.
Additional Considerations:
- ASE certifications are preferred.
- Experience with cutting and welding equipment is advantageous.
- Background in automotive and construction equipment maintenance is beneficial.
