Job Description

Job Summary:

The Production Lead will oversee daily operations within their work department(s) and ensure the quality of products. This involves maintaining their work schedule for on-time shipping, training operators, assisting maintenance with simple repairs, tracking materials for production purposes, and working productively with quality and engineering. Adhering to 6S principles, the Production Lead will maintain shop cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Quality Department to monitor and maintain established quality standards within respective work departments.
  • Assist the supervisor with on-time shipments.
  • Ultimate responsibility for ensuring training of employees as needed, sometimes delegating training to another operator.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of the department or assigned areas.
  • Ensure machines are cleaned and follow up on maintenance issues. If maintenance issues are not properly executed or in a timely manner, the Production Lead should notify their Supervisor.
  • Enforce all safety rules.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of the job.

Competency and Position Requirements:

  • Has working knowledge of manufacturing and above-average understanding of Kelvion Products Inc. products.
  • Exhibits good problem-solving skills.
  • Able to use computer software to check inventories and read pertinent reports.
  • Exhibits adequate verbal communication skills.
  • Understands and willing to enforce all company policies and procedures per handbook.
  • Should have basic math and reading skills along with the ability to use measuring equipment as needed to perform the job.
  • Must have the ability to become company-certified in overhead crane usage. Kelvion Products Inc. cranes are controlled remotely from the ground.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred minimum of 1 year prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Have a High School diploma or GED.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage people and workflow.
  • Experience level would represent above-average knowledge of product and processes.
