The Community Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing LCCU's influence within the community and promoting our brand by focusing on: I) spearheading community-building initiatives, II) overseeing strategic partnerships, III) managing membership initiatives, and IV) providing administrative assistance to the Latino Community Development Center (LCDC), which serves as LCCU's membership base.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Development

  • Fortify LCCU's presence and outreach in the community by establishing strategic alliances and partnerships that address the broader needs of our constituents.
  • Foster and enhance relationships within the community that facilitate access to economic opportunities through LCCU.
  • Represent LCCU at community gatherings and events to advocate for our mission and strengthen key relationships.
  • Conduct presentations and financial literacy workshops for LCCU members and community partners.
  • Assist in branch outreach efforts by developing promotional materials and preparing staff for events.
  • Gather and curate member impact narratives (including video testimonials and written profiles).

Partnership Management

  • Oversee existing strategic partnerships and programs with local and regional organizations that benefit LCCU's members and the broader community.
  • Assess the effectiveness of partnerships by monitoring and reporting their impact, making enhancements as needed.

Membership Initiatives

  • Administer LCCU's Financial Education Program, a comprehensive four-week series offered biannually, both virtually and in-person at LCCU branches. Oversee the program's marketing, curriculum, enrollment, assessment, and graduation ceremony.
  • Manage LCCU's Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to members pursuing higher education. Oversee the program's promotion, application evaluation, and annual ceremony.
  • Support additional LCCU initiatives, including savings programs and more.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, focusing on enhancing systems and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with branch personnel to promote, implement, and assess LCCU's initiatives.

Administrative Support:

  • Coordinate the meeting schedule for LCDC's board of directors, including board materials, minutes, and records management.
  • Assist with LCDC's grant and project oversight.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in community program management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Spanish is required.
  • Exceptional communication abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, prioritizing tasks with a strong focus on quality and timeliness.
  • A demonstrated commitment to LCCU's mission and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Access to reliable transportation, along with necessary documentation for automobile insurance and a valid driver's license; ability to travel independently to various locations.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
