Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Blue Ridge Cancer Care. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment, promoting efficient patient flow and care.
  • Perform clinic support tasks, including miscellaneous clerical duties, answering phones, and maintaining physician schedules.
  • Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
  • Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physicians prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Respond to patients' calls as requested.
  • Perform other administrative duties, including typing, filing, faxing, and reception, as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • Alert nurse/physician of abnormal vitals or important information given by patient.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

The work environment at Blue Ridge Cancer Care is fast-paced and dynamic, with exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
