Job Summary
The UCSF Department of Medicine, Office of Education, is in search of a Finance Coordinator for Educational Programs.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Payroll Management: Oversees and processes payroll for residents, ensuring precise and timely remuneration.
- Reappointment Management: Guarantees that all continuing residents are accurately reappointed through the OGME and HR.
- Financial Analysis: Compiles and presents financial reports for stakeholders and residency leadership, facilitating informed decision-making and ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
- Exceptional Customer Service: Serves as a point of contact for payroll inquiries, effectively resolving issues to support the residency program.
***NOTE: This is a Hybrid role. Onsite day(s) TBD.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on various factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $75,700 - $123,100 (Annual Rate).

Department Description
The Department of Medicine (DOM) is the largest department in the School of Medicine (SOM) at UCSF. The DOM manages an annual budget of approximately $500M across multiple sites with around 3,000 employees. The DOM comprises a significant portion of UCSF faculty and budget. For over three decades, the DOM has consistently ranked among the top departments of medicine in the nation, and in recent years, it has been the leading recipient of NIH research funding.
The mission of the Department of Medicine encompasses research, education, patient care, and public service. The Department operates with a decentralized structure across several sites, with authority and accountability for the Education Division programs resting with the Associate Chair for Education, who collaborates with Residency and Clinical Fellowship Program Directors to fulfill the academic mission.
The UCSF DOM hosts numerous fellowship programs and residency programs, recognized for their excellence in clinical care and research.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and three or more years of relevant experience and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Knowledge of various administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations.
- Thorough understanding of financial analysis and reporting techniques, as well as human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
- Experience with MedHub.
- Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Comprehensive knowledge of University rules and regulations regarding budget, accounting, fund management, and personnel management.
- Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, and counseling abilities.
- Proficient in common University-specific computer applications.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with payroll processing and familiarity with UC Path.
