Role Summary

The Excess Casualty division is looking for a proactive Underwriting Support Specialist to assist in the development of a diverse range of Excess Casualty Products. This role involves supporting and managing the workflow between Underwriting and Operations, overseeing the complete lifecycle of accounts, including new business, renewals, and ongoing service.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in all phases of the underwriting process in collaboration with the underwriting operations team.
  2. Communicate with Underwriters, Brokers, and Reinsurers to update account statuses and resolve outstanding issues.
  3. Confirm policy issuance instructions with Underwriters for policies, endorsements, forms, and certificates, ensuring accurate coding and issuance.
  4. Support the lifecycle of new and renewal business, including submission preparation, rating, quoting, and policy issuance.
  5. Collaborate with internal operations teams to meet service standards.
  6. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all underwriting workflow components.
  7. Assist Underwriters with processing new business submissions and rating documentation.
  8. Participate in projects that support the Underwriting team as needed.
  9. Help onboard new team members and provide mentorship to fellow Underwriting Assistants.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess the following:

  • A high school diploma; some college education is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related field, preferably within the Property & Casualty industry, with a focus on Excess Casualty Lines.
  • A positive, self-motivated attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A customer-centric approach, both internally and externally.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent collaborative skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid model.

Compensation and Benefits

Kalepa offers a competitive compensation package, which may include an annual cash bonus, long-term incentives, and other discretionary compensation. The base salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and expertise.
