Position Overview:

The Senior Cost Accountant will collaborate closely with manufacturing operations to deliver insightful financial data that supports business management. This role is pivotal in the month-end closing process and involves the regulation and verification of financial transactions concerning inventory, operational expenditures, and fixed assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in month-end closing tasks: generate journal entries, compile standard financial and operational reports, clarify operational activities and variances, and report on monthly plant performance, including inventory reconciliations and analysis of excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Conduct work order reviews and analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare financial assessments to track expenditures in critical areas such as scrap, spending, and inventory.
  • Maintain active involvement in plant operations.
  • Review and report on inventory transaction activities.
  • Calculate standard costs for new products and enhance processes for existing products.
  • Ensure the validity and accuracy of ERP systems through analysis and coordination with materials, production, and work order processing.
  • Assist in the formulation of the annual plant budget and standard cost calculations.
  • Execute annual physical inventory activities and conduct monthly cycle count analyses.
  • Monitor and assess asset additions, transfers, and disposals, ensuring comprehensive and accurate supporting documentation.
  • Enhance process documentation and controls related to manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.
  • Represent accounting and finance on teams aimed at improving operations and reducing costs.
  • Communicate effectively, collaborate, and research topics to drive business advancement.
  • Adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Represent the organization professionally and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 4+ years of experience in Cost Accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Excel functions and commands, including PIVOTS, LOOKUPS, IF STATEMENTS, CHARTS, INDEX, MATCH, and CONDITIONAL FORMATTING.
  • Familiarity with ERP Systems, preferably Microsoft D365.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of meeting deadlines while managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to tackle challenges and provide actionable solutions.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated objectivity and sound judgment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot critical issues promptly.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities.
  • Capability to analyze data and provide evidence-based recommendations.
