Pulmonary Rehabilitation Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist II to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our ICU, including PICU and NBSCU. You will assess patient pulmonary status, provide therapy, and educate patients and families on respiratory care. You will also contribute to effective communication within the department through documentation and report.
Responsibilities- Patient Care
- Assess patient pulmonary status using basic and advanced skills, including reviewing medical charts, patient interviews, physical examinations, and interpretation of blood gases.
- Provide therapy and education to patients and families on respiratory care.
- Communication
- Document all care provided via electronic medical record accurately.
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with co-workers, demonstrating a cooperative team spirit and leadership.
- Professional Development
- Assume responsibility for maintaining clinical expertise through continuing education, professional growth, and development.
- Function as charge therapist, upon request, in absence of shift supervisor.
We are looking for a Respiratory Therapist II with an Associate's degree in Respiratory Care and current licensure by the State of Connecticut as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is also required. Two years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with at least 12 months at Yale-New Haven Hospital or 3 years in a critical care environment, is preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care is also preferred.
Additional InformationThis position is based in New Haven, with program sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and in Branford on Wednesdays and Fridays. Rehab experience is preferred.
