About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Heart Failure/Mechanical Circulatory Support (HF/MCS) R&D organization. As a key member of our Electrical Engineering R&D team, you will be responsible for leading new product development activities, including requirements definition, feasibility testing, electrical design, verification testing, component evaluation, and support of cross-functional project teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead electrical engineering activities, including developing V&V test protocols, test execution, and writing test reports.
- Develop test methods, test fixtures, and automation software as needed.
- Support execution and management of logistics for external testing as needed.
- Participate in technical design reviews on electrical designs and ensure that program objectives are determined and met.
- Optimize electrical circuits and battery management systems through characterization, modeling, data analysis, and statistics.
- Conduct root cause analysis for high-priority design issues and contribute to external technical committees as a representative of Abbott.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field, plus 5+ years of experience.
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field, plus 3+ years of experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience in electrical design and qualification.
- Experience with medical device development or other regulated industries.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of sound design principles and practices.
- Good proficiency with general lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and programmable loads.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and taking initiatives to ensure successful outcomes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with battery technologies and solutions.
- Understanding of good documentation practices.
- Good project management skills.
- Good hands-on analog and digital circuit design experience for embedded systems.

The base pay for this position is $83,000.00 – $166,000.00, depending on specific locations. Abbott welcomes and encourages diversity in our workforce.
