Electrical Engineer Job Description

At Stantec, we're seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Water business team. As a key member of our team, you'll contribute to the design and development of electrical systems for various projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems for water and wastewater projects, including power distribution, lighting, and auxiliary systems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to ensure project deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Apply electrical engineering knowledge and concepts to size, evaluate, select, and specify electrical systems for projects.
  • Conduct field investigations, prepare design calculations, and develop construction packages (drawings and specifications).
  • Participate in business development activities, including client project requirement meetings and value analysis.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal teams, external consultants, and clients.
  • Assist senior engineers with project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule management.
  • Perform and oversee calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Conduct quality assurance and implement quality control frameworks on own projects.
  • Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, means, and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Presentation and interview skills are preferred.
  • Well-versed understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoDesk products (i.e., AutoCAD), and/or Bentley products (i.e., Microstation). Familiarity with Revit is an asset.
  • Experience with specialized power system software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and/or EasyPower is an asset.
