Position: Stormwater Engineering Specialist

Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000

Are you dedicated to crafting environmentally responsible solutions for land development initiatives? We are in search of a skilled Stormwater Engineering Specialist who excels in addressing intricate drainage issues and producing innovative, high-caliber designs. If you possess a solid grounding in hydrology and hydraulics, and take pleasure in guiding others while overseeing essential project elements, this role is designed for you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drainage Analysis: Lead the execution of comprehensive drainage evaluations for land development initiatives. This involves conducting runoff and routing computations, designing storm sewer systems and inlets, grading detention basins, and engaging in channel restoration and assessment. Your contributions will result in the development of extensive drainage documentation, often comprising hundreds of pages.
  • Technical Guidance: Work closely with the Team Design Lead to assign and oversee drainage-related responsibilities. You will mentor and train junior staff, ensuring the precision and quality of their outputs.
  • Hydrologic & Hydraulic Knowledge: Utilize your understanding of intermediate hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) principles to create stormwater systems, including basin routing, open channel capacity assessments, and detention pond designs.
  • Project Documentation: Generate drainage studies, reports, and detailed maps as part of construction documentation for land development and municipal projects. You will also evaluate project designs to confirm compliance with local regulatory standards.
  • Team Engagement: Promote transparent communication among all team members, sharing your expertise and ensuring the successful execution of each project.
Qualifications:
  • Educational Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Demonstrated experience in hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations, detention design, and stormwater management.
    • Practical experience with land development projects, including the formulation of Storm Water Management Plans (SWMP) and grading and drainage designs.
    • Proficiency in essential H&H software such as HY-8, FlowMaster, StormCAD/SewerGems, and XPStorm.
    • Strong technical writing capabilities, particularly in crafting detailed reports and documentation.
    • Excellent interpersonal abilities to effectively engage and collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Additional Skills (Preferred):
    • Experience collaborating with municipalities and jurisdictions in relevant areas.
    • Familiarity with FEMA Letters of Map Change, floodplain fill mitigation strategies, and advanced dynamic modeling techniques.
    • Proficiency in HEC-RAS, GeoHECRAS, and ArcGIS software.

If you are eager to make a meaningful contribution in the realm of stormwater engineering and lead impactful projects, we encourage you to consider this opportunity. Join us in developing sustainable, effective drainage solutions that influence the future of land development.
