Emergency Response Pharmacist

In this capacity, you will be deployed to regions affected by natural disasters, public health crises, and other emergencies, providing crucial support for both State and Federal disaster initiatives.
Candidates may be assigned to various locations across the continental United States, its territories, and potentially international sites.This role operates on an on-call and as-needed basis. Candidates must be prepared to mobilize within 48 hours of notification for a minimum duration of fourteen (14) days. Conditions during deployment will vary based on available resources.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deploy to disaster-stricken areas within the United States and its territories, with the possibility of international assignments.
• Responsible for compounding prescriptions for healthcare providers at disaster sites or major emergencies.
• Provide expert guidance to medical personnel regarding medication concentrations, dosages, and other pharmaceutical inquiries.
• Collaborate with various response teams and agencies to ensure a coordinated and effective disaster response.
• Adapt to rapidly evolving environments and work conditions, maintaining a high standard of care under pressure.
• Accurately document patient care activities in a comprehensive manner.
• Safeguard and maintain medical equipment and supplies.
Assignments:
• Candidates must be comfortable providing care and overseeing clinical pharmacy functions, including drug selection, compounding, and dispensing a wide range of therapeutic agents in diverse settings, such as emergency response, field hospitals, and during hospital decompression.
Skills/Education/Other Requirements:
• Must be a US Citizen
• Minimum age of 18 years
• Four-year Bachelor's degree in pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education
• Experience in emergency, disaster, or military medical operations is preferred.
• A valid and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a US territory.
• Hazmat Awareness
• Completion of FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700 & 800 courses
• Passport preferred
• Must be willing and able to work in all environmental conditions, including austere locations.
Conditions of Employment:
This is a per diem/casual position with W-2 employment status. Compensation rates will be disclosed during disaster activation. Candidates will have the option to accept or decline deployment based on the offered rates and conditions.
• Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination, criminal background check, and drug screening in accordance with federal guidelines.
• Maintain all certifications and licenses throughout employment.
