Job Title: After School Program Teacher AideJob Summary:

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a qualified After School Program Teacher Aide to assist in the implementation of classroom activities for our licensed child care programs. This role requires face-to-face leadership and involves working with children in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in and assist with program activities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children.
  • Engage with children in the classroom, promoting social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival, and departure times.
  • Supervise children at all times, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Discipline children and recommend or initiate measures to control behavior, ensuring a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Perform opening and closing duties of the program, ensuring a smooth transition for children and staff.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 17 years of age and have at least two years of babysitting or childcare experience.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
  • Ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
