Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Before and After School Program Assistant Teacher to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. As a key member of our youth development team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and leading daily lesson plans that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development in children.
  • Prepare materials and resources for daily activities, ensuring a smooth and efficient program.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival, and departure times, as well as provide weekly lesson plans to parents.
  • Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with Site Supervisor to plan and implement parent-teacher conferences as needed.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment, including supplies, equipment, and materials.
Requirements
  • 6-12 months of experience in youth development or a related field.
  • Ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
  • Desire to work with school-age children and provide a positive impact on their lives.

We offer a competitive hourly wage and a $2/hour shift premium for staff who work both before school program hours and after school program hours in the same day. This premium will be paid out as a bonus on a monthly basis.
