Job Title: Before and After School Program Lead Teacher

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Before and After School Program Lead Teacher to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities for school-age children.

Job Summary:

The Before and After School Program Lead Teacher will provide a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children to prepare for their school day and unwind from it. You will be responsible for leading daily lesson plans, organizing games and activities, and maintaining records of attendance and arrival and departure times.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and lead daily lesson plans that promote learning and development
  • Organize and participate in games and activities that foster socialization and teamwork
  • Provide weekly lesson plans to parents and maintain open communication
  • Supervise children at all times and maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss progress and address concerns
  • Maintain the quality and quantity of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent in a youth development related field
  • 6-12 months of experience in youth development or a related field
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with school-age children

Compensation:

$16.43 - $20.54 per hour, non-exempt, part-time (up to 25 hours/week)

This position offers a $2/hour shift premium for staff who work both before school program hours and after school program hours in the same day.
