About the Role:This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our participants. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will provide mentorship, advocacy, and connection to vital resources, helping individuals achieve and maintain sobriety and build brighter futures.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct outreach and recruitment efforts to engage with the community and inform them about our services.
- Perform intake and eligibility determinations, making referrals and assessments as needed.
- Coordinate and attend family, service, and team meetings, facilitating wrap-around services with other providers.
- Deliver skills-based and pro-social workshops for participants, promoting healthy coping mechanisms and life skills.
- Provide emotional support and advocacy for participants, responding to urgent crises and visiting participants in detox units, recovery homes, and sober living homes.
- Enter data into participant databases and assist with writing periodic program reports.
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist by Medi-Cal.
- Valid Medi-Cal peer support specialist certificate or in the process of procuring one.
- Applicants with lived experience of incarceration, close impact, or institutionalization will be given priority.
- Spanish language skills, verbal and written, preferred.
- Possess a current California Driver's License, clean DMV record, and adequate auto insurance.
- Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check and initial TB employment clearance.
As a Peer Support Specialist at Alliance for Community Empowerment, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our participants. We offer a competitive salary range of $28.85 to $30.45 hourly, depending on experience.
