Chief Counsel for Criminal Justice Matters

Position Overview
The role demands a comprehensive understanding of both state and federal criminal justice frameworks, presenting a distinctive and demanding opportunity for a driven legal professional. The successful candidate will manage an independent caseload, collaborating closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute a range of serious offenses.
Key Responsibilities
- Focus on prosecutions related to violent crimes and firearm offenses, with potential involvement in cases of drug trafficking, sex trafficking, and money laundering.
- Provide thorough analysis and deliver clear, practical, and precise legal advice on various issues.
- Engage in additional assignments as required, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the office.
- Assist in the evaluation and formulation of official advisory opinions and review legislative proposals during sessions of the Virginia General Assembly.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, possess a degree from an accredited law school, and be admitted to the Virginia State Bar or eligible for admission. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, sound judgment, and exceptional written and verbal communication abilities are essential, along with the capacity to analyze and manage intricate cases.
Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate should have at least five years of relevant experience, particularly in prosecutorial roles within Virginia or federal courts.
