Position Overview

Glacier Bank is in search of a dedicated Commercial Lending Specialist who will play a crucial role in our organization. The Commercial Lending Specialist is responsible for generating new business opportunities in commercial lending and overseeing a designated portfolio of commercial loans.

This role acts as a liaison for both current and prospective clients seeking commercial loan solutions tailored to their financial needs.

The position entails conducting interviews and performing credit assessments on both new and existing loan applications, ultimately determining whether to recommend approval or decline requests.

The Commercial Lending Specialist will keep clients informed about their loan status and approvals while collaborating closely with the Credit Administration team to uphold loan quality and ensure the efficient processing of loan applications.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Generate new business by engaging with existing and potential commercial clients within the targeted market.

2. Meet with applicants to gather necessary information; analyze data for loan requests; and submit applications to credit analysts for financial assessment and approval recommendations.

3. Advise potential borrowers on products and services, addressing inquiries about loan requirements and processes.

4. Evaluate loan requests in accordance with bank policies and the types of loans available.

5. Prepare and present loan proposals and documentation in line with bank standards for review by senior management, loan committees, and the board of directors.

6. Collaborate closely with Loan Assistants and Credit Analysts to expedite loan decision-making.
7. Monitor the existing loan portfolio to maintain a robust credit culture.
8. Act as a brand ambassador within the community and engage in local volunteer initiatives.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Finance, Administration, or a related field.
- Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the financial industry.

Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions; ability to relate to others in a friendly and approachable manner, treating everyone with fairness and respect.

Occasional Requirements:
- Stand, walk, and lift or reach with hands and arms.
- Operate standard office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers, and calculators. Must be able to work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours daily, as needed. Must be available for extended hours or travel as required by management. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is essential. Must be capable of climbing or descending stairs in emergencies.

Specific lifting requirements for this position include: Sedentary work, involving exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently or constantly to move objects.

Visual acuity is required for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and viewing computer screens.
