Position Overview:
Wheatland Bank is on the lookout for a dedicated Commercial Banking Officer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in cultivating new commercial lending opportunities while managing a diverse portfolio of existing loans. The Commercial Banking Officer acts as a liaison for current and prospective clients seeking commercial financing solutions tailored to their specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities by engaging with current and potential commercial clients within the designated market.
  • Conduct interviews with loan applicants to gather necessary information; analyze and compile data for loan submissions; present applications to credit analysts for financial assessment and approval recommendations.
  • Advise potential borrowers on suitable products and services, addressing inquiries regarding loan requirements and processes.
  • Evaluate loan requests in accordance with bank policies and the types of loans available.
  • Prepare and deliver loan proposals and documentation in line with bank standards for review by senior management and relevant committees.
  • Collaborate closely with Loan Assistants and Credit Analysts to ensure timely decision-making on loan applications.
  • Monitor the performance of the existing loan portfolio to uphold a high standard of credit quality.
  • Act as a community representative for the bank, engaging in local initiatives and volunteer opportunities.

Candidate Profile:
Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Finance, Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the financial services sector.

Work Environment:
This role requires the ability to perform work in a climate-controlled office setting with minimal noise distractions.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include the ability to sit for extended periods, use hands for repetitive tasks, and communicate effectively. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting may be required.
