Position Overview

New Life Centers is dedicated to providing comprehensive, community-focused mentoring initiatives for youth and their families in various neighborhoods. Our mission targets at-risk youth, including those affiliated with gangs or on probation, referred by local educational institutions and community organizations. By serving these demographics, we aim to engage in both violence prevention and intervention, addressing the needs of the community holistically.

Role Summary

The IT Support Specialist is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week, and is primarily based at our organizational locations. The IT Support Specialist (ITSS) will oversee the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of all IT operations within New Life Centers. This role involves aligning technological resources with the organization’s strategic goals, managing IT operations to fulfill employee and participant requirements, troubleshooting existing applications, and developing new technical solutions. The ITSS will collaborate with technology partners and contractors to ensure effective IT service delivery across various locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with supervisors and staff to promptly address any IT-related safety concerns.
  • Source cost-effective materials and supplies for IT needs.
  • Efficiently manage time to complete assigned projects.
  • Keep the Operations team informed on the progress of IT initiatives.
  • Propose and plan IT solutions that align with New Life Centers' objectives based on thorough research and assessment.
  • Lead the implementation of new or upgraded information systems through well-defined strategies, including procedures, timelines, and accountability measures.
  • Facilitate the development and training of IT components relevant to NLC services with staff members.
  • Create and maintain a disaster recovery plan for IT systems.
  • Administer the IT department's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Manage user access on the network, ensuring security and compliance with standards.
  • Oversee maintenance of user computers, servers, email systems, internet connectivity, and network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support for software and hardware issues reported by users, including consultation for audio/video needs and printer support.
  • Stay updated on operating systems and application software to effectively assist users.
  • Evaluate software and hardware efficiency, identifying training needs to enhance user productivity.
  • Coordinate procurement and installation of necessary equipment and software for user devices and networks.
  • Manage projects assigned to external IT consultants as required.
  • Research and recommend external IT consultants when necessary.
  • Provide backend support for websites as needed.
  • Supervise web developers and related support services when necessary.
  • Assist the Communications Team with website and collaboration tools.
  • Negotiate purchases and leases for IT equipment, including computers and software licenses.
  • Participate in team meetings to assess information needs and establish project priorities.
  • Monitor and assign software licenses as required.
  • Prepare monthly reports detailing activities, system issues, and support requests.
  • Coordinate a comprehensive staff technology safety plan.
  • Participate in evaluations and audits as necessary.
  • Exemplify the values of New Life Centers in all interactions.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Mandated Reporter is required (training provided).
  • Successful completion of background checks is mandatory.
  • One year of experience in an IT role is preferred.
  • A degree in Computer Science or equivalent certifications (e.g., A+, MCSE, MCSA, CCNA) is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Willingness to learn and effectively use Microsoft 365 and relevant information tracking systems.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
