POSITION SUMMARY

The Billing Team Specialist is responsible for providing on-the-floor coaching to their respective billing team to assist staff in managing their workload and resolving issues to root causes.

This position requires the ability to analyze trends and provide insights to leadership to address issues in a timely manner.

The Billing Team Specialist processes all patient accounts for their designated area to procure payments from third-party and patient pay accounts.

This position ensures the accuracy of patient records and compliance with State and Federal Regulations.

The Billing Team Specialist verifies patient insurance, collects deductibles, and arranges payment plans.

This position assists patients with questions regarding bills, insurance, and alternative payment plans.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years prior experience in hospital billing office or billing, insurance, or other related healthcare field.
  • Minimum of 1 year prior experience in a lead position, either officially or can demonstrate with prior examples of experience.
  • Must have excellent computer skills and working knowledge of medical terminology.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.

Position requires sitting at a desk/computer a majority of the day and frequent walking, standing, and reaching. This position also may require the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Works with equipment such as computer terminal, fax machine, printer, and copier.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Billing Supervisor in the Business Office in ARMC and the Business Office Billing Manager in lieu of a supervisor.
