We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at The University of Texas at Austin. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory services to support the health and well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Collect and process patient specimens for testing.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and automated analyzers.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Participate in proficiency testing and quality improvement evaluations to maintain and improve laboratory performance.
- Graduate from an approved Medical Laboratory Technician program.
- Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
- Successful completion of 15-week training as part of degree program.
- Demonstrated ability to operate clinical laboratory equipment.
- Experience with and a moderate comfort level using a personal computer.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective.
- Two or more years of experience in a laboratory performing moderate complexity testing.
- May work around standard office conditions.
- May work around biohazards.
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
- Use of manual dexterity.
- Lifting and moving.
- Exposure to chemicals and commercial items typically found in offices, medical clinics, and building repairs/maintenance.
- 8AM - 5:30PM, Monday - Friday.
- Occasional weekend and holiday work, as assigned.
- Schedule will be discussed during interview.
- Resume/CV.
- 3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor.
- Letter of interest.
