About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager Mechanical Systems to join our team at Blue Origin, LLC. As a key member of our New Glenn program, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the first stage heavy lift vehicle mechanical systems scope, including hydraulics, APU, separation systems, fin actuation systems, and associated scope.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the mechanical systems design and development plan, ensuring alignment with program requirements and schedules.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians in the design, development, testing, and production of mechanical systems, ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical systems integration with other vehicle systems, including propulsion, power, and thermal management.
  • Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and resource plans to ensure successful program execution.
  • Identify and mitigate technical, cost, and schedule risks, ensuring program stability and success.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to ensure team success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, with 8+ years of experience in mechanical systems development.
  • Proven track record of leading complex mechanical systems development programs, with experience in design, development, testing, and production.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with launch vehicle development, production, and operations, with knowledge of mechanical systems integration and testing.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support program activities, customer meetings, and supplier interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, with experience in launch vehicle development and operations.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification, with experience in project planning, execution, and control.
  • Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management, and Cost Account Management.
