About the Role

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and integrating the mechanical systems of our spacecraft, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage mechanical interfaces between subsystems, defining requirements and constraints to ensure seamless integration.
  • Lead mass allocation and budgeting efforts, ensuring the vehicle's mass properties are accurately calculated and reported.
  • Design and implement assessments for integrated manufacturing, assembly, and testing to improve quality and reduce costs.
  • Own and manage the vehicle's Master Equipment List, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct regular mechanical configuration reviews to address module-level interfaces and ensure smooth system operation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage change and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop trade and impact studies to inform the development of new programs and upgrades.
  • Support vehicle assembly, integration, and test activities on the assembly floor and at the launch site.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in developing integrated systems.
  • Strong design and integration skills using 3D CAD software and experience with large and complex assembly management.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government TS-SCI clearance.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing and developing flight-proven spacecraft hardware.
  • Proficient in PTC Windchill PLM system.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T practices with tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Experience with requirements management.
  • Active TS-SCI clearance.
