Primary Responsibilities

This role will deliver tax expertise for specific operational or business tax functions.

In general, a Senior Tax Analyst will:
(1) oversee the work of junior tax personnel, (2) ensure timely and accurate completion of filing obligations and financial statement tax disclosures for both regulated and unregulated sectors, (3) manage responses to tax and/or financial statement audits of the organization and its subsidiaries, (4) assess and quantify the tax implications of current tax legislation and proposed changes, (5) conduct tax research under the guidance of senior tax professionals, (6) identify advantageous or simplified reporting alternatives for assigned functions or business units, and (7) create tax planning strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Incumbents will concentrate on both Tax Accounting and Tax Compliance.

Key Responsibilities Include:


Ensure the completion of tax accounting (ASC 740) for the organization and its subsidiaries, including financial statement and regulatory tax disclosures.


Lead the management of tax obligations (e.g., identifying book/tax discrepancies and permanent and temporary differences) for financial forecasting and strategic planning for assigned business units, entities, projects, and other responsibilities.


Monitor, identify, research, quantify, and effectively communicate appropriate tax provision and return reporting positions and filing requirements arising from business activities and planning strategies implemented for assigned business units, entities, and responsibilities.


Coordinate and review the organization's responses to auditors' information requests and proposed adjustments to ensure accuracy and completeness.


Ensure the timely completion of tax returns and estimated tax payments, including partnerships, exempt organizations, trusts, pension plans, and limited liability companies.


Stay informed about existing and emerging tax laws, regulations, and rulings, particularly as they relate to assigned tasks and entities, including researching and quantifying any tax implications.

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the industry and the businesses; cultivate and maintain professional relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

Perform additional duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration. Required

Master's degree in Tax or Accounting. Preferred

Experience

5 years of experience, preferably with a large CPA firm or corporate tax department. Required

Skills and Abilities


Solid working knowledge in at least one of the following tax functions and have taken affirmative steps toward developing such knowledge in another: domestic compliance, international compliance, audit, tax accounting, regulatory, sales use tax, property tax, and customs/tariffs duties.

Proficiency in tax and computer software applications including Microsoft Excel and Word and tax systems (e.g., Corp Tax).

Understanding and application of Alteryx (or other ETL) is a plus.

Basic tax research skills and experience using tax research tools, such as RIA Checkpoint, BNA, or CCH.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and basic project management and presentation skills are essential.

We offer a hybrid work environment.

Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
