Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Systems Specialist to join our team at Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command. As an Electronics Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, calibrating, and certifying complex electronic Airway Transportation (AT) Systems and Communication-Electronics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply certified technical expertise to maintain, modify, and certify integrated radar, weather, air navigational, and communications systems supporting the safe movement of air traffic in the National Airspace System.
  • Maintain National Airspace System (NAS) automated ATC systems to ensure they produce an end product acceptable for air traffic control purposes.
  • Perform system security administration functions for ATC automated systems and maintain and modify local ATC computer databases to conform to local airspace and NAS specifications.
  • Modify Airway Transportation equipment as prescribed by the FAA, DoD, or USAF and participate in project planning and execution.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and assistance to other technicians, conduct on-the-job training to apprentices, and perform Quality Assurance (QA) inspections.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems.
  • Expert knowledge and experience working with complex and integrated AT and C-E equipment and associated support equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems, network types, network topologies, transport devices, and data communications equipment.
  • Expert knowledge of electronic principles and practices, operating parameters, capabilities, and limitations of electronic systems associated with air traffic control and weather equipment.
  • Ability to rank priorities and make accurate and quick decisions that support the unit mission and the safety of flight regarding equipment operation.
