Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at the Air Force Materiel Command. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various electrical systems, controls, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, or replace electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls.
  • Troubleshoot problem areas and inspect for defective equipment and faulty wiring.
  • Work from building plans, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings to determine necessary repairs and replacements.
  • Use and maintain various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines.
  • Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Requirements
  • Meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
  • Qualify for the WG-2800 Electrical Installation and Maintenance Family.
  • Have a strong understanding of electrical equipment theory and instruments, technical practices, and the ability to use electrical drawings and hand tools.
  • Be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions

This position requires working both inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy. You may work on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet, or in close quarters such as manholes or attics. You will be subject to electric shock, cuts, and bruises, and may be exposed to temperature extremes, high noise levels, and hazardous materials.
