Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at Quest Diagnostics. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring the highest quality of patient care, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the activities of the laboratory, including distributing work, determining priorities, and scheduling non-routine procedures.
  • Perform supervisory functions, including interviewing, hiring, training, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
  • Perform advanced/specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques, including duplicating work to confirm test results.
  • Check and approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy.
  • Initiate quality-control measures and monitor the quality of work to ensure adherence to laboratory standards.
  • Perform duties of a technologist as necessitated by absence or peak workload.
  • Complete special projects as requested, including surveys, statistical reports, studies, and research.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition.
  • Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
  • Adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years of full-time supervisory experience.
  • New York State Inspection Lab Requirements.
  • 6 years of clinical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Supervisor at Quest Diagnostics.
Physical and Mental Requirements

The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects, sitting or standing for long periods of time, and using manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Comprehensive theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty.
  • Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently, establish work priorities, and handle several tasks simultaneously.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with employees, co-workers, and clients.
  • Ability to deal with client information in a confidential manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required).
Licenses and Certifications
  • ASCP Certification.
