Purpose of Position

The Proposal Technical Writer is a key member of our proposal development team, responsible for creating compelling and compliant technical descriptions to support new business and program change proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technical content to describe proposed solutions, including technical, management, and financial aspects.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather technical information and develop proposal documents.
  • Ensure proposal content is compliant, persuasive, and effectively communicates our solutions.
  • Develop, write, and edit proposal materials, including executive summaries, reports, presentations, and contract deliverables.
  • Maintain quality results by using templates and following proposal-writing standards.
  • Analyze RFPs and ensure compliance of written response documentation.
  • Participate in kick-off meetings and proposal reviews.
  • Ensure timely delivery of proposal documentation and adherence to RFP specifications.
  • Develop win themes and discriminators to enhance proposal responses.
  • Manage proposal supporting documentation database and re-use library.
  • Collaborate with graphic artists to create representative graphics and incorporate them into technical documents.
  • Interface with proposal teams to collect and insert edited changes.
  • Establish and maintain proposal document control via an electronic filing system.
  • Monitor and maintain Configuration Management of proposals using SharePoint and/or a local network.
  • Ensure availability of materials for proposal reviews.
  • Interact daily with functional departments to support proposal development requirements.
  • Research aviation training best practices and implement them in proposal writing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field, or four years of combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Five years of experience in persuasive technical proposal writing, with two years of experience in proposal development in government contracts and/or aviation training.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and work efficiently with remote employees.
  • Ability to work constructively in a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, good judgment, and accuracy.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Desktop publishing experience a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio Graphics, and other graphics tools.
