Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Engineer to join our team at Children's National Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in various levels of medical equipment selection, installation, setup, and disposition. They will also coordinate necessary equipment issues during construction projects to ensure that the necessary equipment is included in the project, specified to architect, purchased, installed, and setup appropriately.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biomedical engineering or electrical engineering, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment. They will be responsible for managing medical equipment maintenance, installations, safety, lifecycle replacement, IT setup, and IT security.

The Clinical Engineer will also be responsible for providing consultation and training to clinical staff in the area of medical equipment application, usage, and areas in which alternative applications are possible to improve care. They will also provide advanced technical expertise to the biomedical engineering department in the area of equipment operation, repair, design, and application.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will be responsible for managing the safety program for equipment in their area of responsibility, including recall and hazard management, incident review and follow-up, and cybersecurity and IT security assessments.
