Job Summary

The Salvation Army Central Territory is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full Time Assistant Kitchen Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our kitchen operations, you will be responsible for overseeing beneficiaries, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen and canteen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Beneficiary Oversight: Ensure that beneficiaries receive comprehensive training and complete necessary safety and compliance sheets.
  • Health and Safety: Familiarize yourself with and enforce Health Department policies, preparing for regular inspections and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Performance Management: Supervise and provide daily feedback to beneficiaries on their work therapy performance, including cooking and cleaning tasks.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with the Kitchen Supervisor to maintain accurate inventory levels, communicate with relevant channels, and ensure timely ordering.
  • Menu Planning: Work with the Kitchen Supervisor to create menus using the Cycle Menu Management System, utilizing donated goods to maximize their use and quality.
  • Ordering and Procurement: Create orders based on inventory levels, considering current stock, cost, menu, and needs, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Donation Management: Seek opportunities to obtain food donations, arrange pickup, and communicate received donations to relevant parties.
  • Canteen Operations: Track items sold in the canteen, mark canteen cards accurately, and communicate important matters to other shift employees through the kitchen log.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to oversee beneficiaries, supervise, and train; proficiency in using a computer for communication, inventory management, ordering, and canteen operations; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions; problem-solving skills; and basic math skills.
  • Certifications: ServSafe and Allergen training certifications.
  • Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand, use hands, handle, or feel; frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch; regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a kitchen environment, which is frequently warm and humid, and the noise level is usually moderate to loud.
