Position Overview:

Martin Marietta is on the lookout for a Utility Person to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and motivation. This role entails executing cross-functional responsibilities in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation efficiently and safely.

The Utility Person will be tasked with greasing and lubricating plant machinery, upholding plant cleanliness, operating equipment, and conducting routine maintenance on both plant and machinery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding under the supervision of the plant manager or designated personnel.
  • Perform daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintain a maintenance log.
  • Utilize hand tools and operate skid steers, front-end loaders, and other equipment to clean around plant machinery and maintain roadways and parking areas.
  • Operate a water truck to mitigate airborne dust.
  • Engage in plant operations, including production, loading, shipping, and quality control.
  • Ensure good housekeeping in assigned areas and maintain safe traffic flow throughout the site.
  • Safely operate plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks as required.
  • Assist in training co-workers as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience relevant to the responsibilities of this position.
  • Experience in the building materials industry is preferred.
