Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

Visioneering Studios is seeking an experienced Architectural Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our Principal Architect to plan and develop medium to large-scope projects. This role requires a strong understanding of architecture principles and practices, as well as excellent project management skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner and Client Relationship and Project Management
  • Works with Principal Architect to ensure VSA partner journey process is complied with
  • Coordinate with Strategic Design Team and include to participate in major project milestones
  • Manage client expectations and engage Principal Architect as needed
  • Regularly engage partners to build/foster relationships and ensure the best possible experience

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

  • Executes projects in adherence to VSA standards and procedures
  • Complies with VSA QA/QC process
  • Works with Principal Architect to produce RFP's for consultant procurement
  • Coordinates consultants and reviews consultant billings with Principal Architect
  • Executes project deliverables in adherence to VSA standards and procedures
  • Works with Principal Architect to ensure projects comply with budget, scope, and schedule
  • Works with Principal Architect to ensure scope is consistent with contracted scope and minimize
    scope creep
  • Ensure proper coordination with VSC construction Project Manager (Design Build Projects)
  • Ensures projects are reviewed at every phase with Principal Architect and Managing Principal
    (design)

VISIONEERS (TEAM MEMBER) COLLABERATION

  • Actively participate in cultivating VSA company culture
  • Share experience with other team members when appropriate
  • Collaborate with other Visioneers throughout project development
  • Actively engage Managing Principal (Design) for feedback related to design development

ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT

  • Executes work within contract terms and alerts Principal Architect to add service opportunities
  • Work with Principal Architect to manage consultant costs and fee negotiations (through RFP
    process)
  • Work with Principal Architect to coordinate and properly execute all partner and consultant
    contracts
  • Expected to properly document all projects including communication and meeting minutes
  • Expected to keep Principal Architect regularly updated on project development
  • Expected to complete tasks within the hours/timeframes assigned

SKILLS AND RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE

Architectural project managers receive extensive training, which teaches them all the key skills they need. Architectural project managers must also have skills such as:

  • Creativity, as architects are responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the project are aesthetically pleasing and must resolve any cosmetic issues if they arise.
  • Organizational skills, as architectural project managers will need to keep on top of paperwork, contracts, arrange meetings with clients and delegate and manage contractors.
  • Leadership skills, as they are responsible for managing and directing other professionals involved in the project.
  • Communication skills, as architectural project managers must share their ideas, both in written and verbal format, with clients, other architects, construction workers and all other professionals involved in the process.
  • Analytical skills, as architectural project managers must understand complexed designs and the context in which they were created. Furthermore, they must be able to explain this to other people.
  • Technical skills, as architectural project managers need to use BIM technology to create plans.

The position also requires the employee to use near vision in reading plans, correspondence, and data using a computer. Hearing is required when communicating by phone and/or in person. The need to lift, drag, and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds is also required. Travel may be required, and may vary.
