The Quality Assurance and Control Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and executing project quality assurance activities in alignment with established company standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the quality control program in collaboration with craft personnel, third-party inspectors, and contractors.
- Schedule quality control inspections in coordination with project timelines.
- Implement quality assurance procedures, inspection guidelines, and control measuring equipment.
- Conduct inspections of materials upon receipt for designated work areas.
- Perform inspections and witness tests relevant to the discipline to assess work acceptability, including the ability to enter confined spaces and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Utilize strong organizational skills to effectively address and minimize project obstacles, employing sound decision-making and problem-solving techniques.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills when engaging with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and site personnel.
- Facilitate necessary communication with customer inspectors regarding all quality-related aspects.
- Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure adherence to company standards and applicable codes.
- Conduct system verifications on completed installations to confirm compliance with design specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of work performance, inspections, and related documentation.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Travel as necessary to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
A minimum of five years of technical training and/or relevant experience in quality assurance within the construction sector.
Familiarity with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Codes and the National Board Inspection Code.
Experience:
At least five years of experience in the construction industry focused on quality assurance, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of quality assurance programs, NDT processes, standards, and documentation requirements. A total of ten years of construction experience is preferred, with a focus on boiler and pressure vessel knowledge.
Tools and Equipment:
Experience with NDT equipment commonly used in construction projects, including dye penetrant test kits, magnetic particle test kits, and hydro test equipment.
Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam, with the ability to learn additional software as needed.
Certifications:
A valid state-issued driver's license and AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification are required.
