Overview

As a key member of our engineering team, you will leverage provided and generated technical details to execute calculations, create CAD drawings, and relay engineering information to support field personnel and trades in making necessary equipment adjustments or installing new systems. You will also develop Requests for Information (RFIs), Field Change Orders (FCOs), and schedules, ensuring effective communication with clients, field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers. Our focus is on heavy industrial construction, dealing with various equipment and materials such as pressure vessels, piping systems, and structural steel.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Relocate to project sites and operate from temporary facilities for extended durations to achieve project goals.
  2. Oversee daily assignments to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  3. Integrate safety and environmental considerations into daily operations.
  4. Generate RFIs and FCOs as instructed by the Site Project Manager.
  5. Analyze design drawings and specifications to fully grasp the project execution strategy, pinpoint critical areas needing additional oversight, and identify non-conformities.
  6. Create drawings and sketches to assist construction efforts, change orders, and estimates.
  7. Gather as-built data through field measurements to evaluate existing equipment for replacement or modifications.
  8. Provide essential control lines, demolition, and alignment references for precise measurement and material installation.
  9. Establish a benchmark coordinate system for total station equipment to connect various site locations.
  10. Conduct quality assurance inspections at fabrication facilities before materials arrive on-site, utilizing total station and other measurement tools.
  11. Maintain project documentation in accordance with Nooter Management System procedures as directed by the Site Project Manager.
  12. Investigate and propose solutions to drawing interpretation issues, conflicts, and errors.
  13. Collaborate with the assigned Rigging Engineer to perform field measurements for crane placements and provide technical guidance for rigging plans.
  14. Prepare and distribute necessary documentation, including status reports, punch lists, and red-line drawings, to relevant personnel.
  15. Engage with clients or their engineering firms, subcontractors, and field staff daily to effectively manage project execution.
  16. Create and audit Engineering Document Files Logs.
  17. Assist with inventory management and inspect materials and equipment for compliance with project specifications.
  18. Conduct regular site inspections, including safety audits, to ensure adherence to O.S.H.A. and project standards.
  19. Cross-train with other departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of their functions and requirements.
  20. Participate in client meetings as directed by the Site Project Manager.
  21. Engage in post-project analysis meetings upon project completion.
  22. Develop a thorough understanding of relevant codes necessary for project completion.
  23. Work closely with the Safety Department to monitor site safety compliance, which may involve presenting safety information at Craft Safety meetings.
  24. Support other site personnel in completing their assigned tasks.
  25. Assist in the development and updating of the project schedule using P6.
Required Skills:
  • Convert engineering data into actionable information for field personnel.
  • Build strong relationships with team members and trades.
  • Accurately assess related work, apply project labor rates, and analyze schedule impacts to formulate Field Change Orders for client approval.
  • Proficient in traditional and software-based surveying and layout tools (e.g., plumb bob, tape measure, laser level, total station).
  • Deep understanding of Boilermaker/Pipefitter tools and processes (e.g., torch cutting, welding, rigging).
  • Effectively communicate and guide trades on field installations (e.g., demolition sites, installation tolerances).
  • Competent in developing and maintaining project schedules using P6.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Disciplines such as Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Construction Management with CAD coursework.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Field Engineering role.

Relocation:
  • Position based in our West Coast Office, with potential assignments in various locations. Travel between job sites may be necessary based on business needs.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:
  • Exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments, including varying temperatures.
  • Potential hazards associated with working at heights.
  • Occasional use of respiratory protection or fall protection equipment.
  • Exposure to noise levels exceeding 85 decibels, requiring hearing protection.
