Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Project Manager/Project Engineer to join our Civil, Municipal and Facilities team in the Lakewood, CO office. This career-oriented position requires providing operational, permitting, compliance, design, and construction services to a wide variety of clients.

Our engineering staff provide engineering design and technical support on challenging projects including water and wastewater municipal infrastructure, site design and land development, State and local roadways, and renewable energy development.

In this position, the successful candidate will apply their existing knowledge and develop new skills while working as part of a dynamic and fast-paced team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting technical analyses to support planning, development, permitting and design of water, wastewater, stormwater and roadway systems
  • Designing water, wastewater, stormwater and roadway systems adapted for specific municipal and private development sectors in accordance with applicable local, state, or federal regulations
  • Performing civil/site design and planning to support a wide variety of land development projects
  • Preparing grading and erosion and sedimentation control plans
  • Preparing technical design reports, compliance reports and permit application packages
  • Attending and presenting project designs and applications at various Planning Board/AHJ meetings
  • Preparing construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans
  • Working with designers and permitting specialists to prepare civil site design packages for a wide variety of projects supporting private developers, commercial/industrial facilities, and municipal infrastructure that comply with applicable local, state and federal regulations
  • Managing tasks and delegating tasks to junior level staff
  • Preparing and managing budgets, schedules, invoicing, subcontractor procurement and oversight
  • Managing the work performance for multiple dynamic projects, developing solutions to project challenges, and communicating proactively with senior staff
  • Executing fieldwork and contractor oversight to perform construction quality assurance
  • Assisting clients in addressing their project development challenges and goals by working with project teams across multiple disciplines to perform site-specific analyses and assessments
  • Applying quality assurance and quality control procedures
  • Working directly with clients professionally and displaying a service-oriented attitude
  • Willingness to build a sustaining practice and engage in business development efforts including being active in professional organizations
  • Advancing career knowledge by attending continuing educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies, etc.

Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of eight (8) years' experience with Colorado PE licensure or ability to acquire Colorado PE License within 3 months
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D Software
  • Proficiency with HydroCAD or other infrastructure modeling/hydrology software
  • Ability to make decisions and perform as an independent thinker and leader, but also collaborate with project team personnel
  • Strong technical writing and data management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience with the development and implementation of infrastructure technical plans, designs, and specifications
  • Experience independently analyzing and interpreting data regarding site uses and topography to develop infrastructure management plans and best management practices
  • A strong understanding of local, state, and federal level permitting for a variety of development types including State (CO) infrastructure permitting and town/city site plan review applications
  • Client service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Established NCEES record a plus
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, including current refresher training, or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Experience in performing engineer's estimates of probable cost for infrastructure, land development, and roadway activities utilizing both RS Means and contractor contacts
  • Experience developing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
  • Experience performing construction monitoring and oversight
  • Proven direct infrastructure, and roadway contractor working relationships

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
