Role Overview: The Senior Electrical Systems Manager will work in conjunction with CHQ Development and external engineering partners to create innovative electrical system designs for data centers throughout the Americas, emphasizing advanced technology and sustainability.
This role requires a comprehensive understanding of electrical systems that support critical environments, as well as knowledge of associated mechanical systems. This expertise allows for effective collaboration with the entire CHQ team, including partners, clients, and suppliers, ensuring that customer needs are met with customized solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement growth strategies for current and future CloudHQ data centers across diverse regions and climates.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and partners to define new projects and expand existing sites.
- Oversee electrical designs and specifications, assist in budget evaluations, and support construction efforts.
- Collaborate with Operations Teams to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives and influence the design of CloudHQ's data centers.
What You Will Achieve: The successful candidate will proactively identify CloudHQ's business needs and formulate contingency plans, working alongside the Development team to deliver top-tier data centers.
Responsibilities Include:
- Leading the conceptual design of electrical systems, engaging with internal and external consultant teams to deliver sustainable solutions.
- Managing third-party consultants to produce detailed electrical designs, continuously improving CloudHQ's design standards.
- Analyzing project specifications, creating work schedules, and delegating tasks effectively.
- Engaging with clients to facilitate their preferred solutions within CloudHQ data centers.
- Providing support during the construction procurement process, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Collaborating with contractors and vendors to ensure value-driven construction practices.
- Working with the Operations team to ensure design standards meet expectations.
- Conducting research into innovative solutions and designs that benefit CloudHQ.
- Maintaining engagement with industry thought leaders to stay ahead of market innovations.
- Collaborating across various functions to represent and develop all data center design requirements.
- Promoting CloudHQ's design philosophies such as reliability, safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Educating stakeholders on the sustainable aspects of data center design and the environmental benefits of centralization.
- Presenting projects to relevant stakeholders and participating in the investment planning process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of progressive experience in leading teams and managing projects to achieve strategic objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in electrical engineering and project management, particularly in data center design.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective client interaction.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
